This year, as years prior, La Mesa Oktoberfest is set to exceed all expectations, capturing the spirit of Munich with unmatched enthusiasm and charm. From the traditional Bavarian decor and lively music to the delicious food and drinks, attendees can expect an unparalleled experience that honors the festival’s rich heritage. Celebrating its 52nd year, the FREE La Mesa Oktoberfest has been the crown jewel of San Diego and Southern California’s Oktoberfest celebrations, offering a unique blend of tradition, community, and festivity that sets it apart as the ultimate Oktoberfest and community event. This beloved festival has become an annual pilgrimage for thousands, drawing revelers for three days of vibrant live music, authentic German cuisine, and a plethora of German and Craft beers.   

Biergartens From Friday, October 2, to Sunday, October 4, the quaint streets of La Mesa Village will transform into the largest German celebration in San Diego. Grab your steins and prepare to “Prost!” as the festival offers an array of libations to suit every taste bud. Three fully loaded biergartens will feature non-stop performances by local and regional bands, spanning genres from German Polka to indie rock, ensuring entertainment for attendees of all ages. For just $8 (with kids under 21 admitted free), guests can access all three unique biergartens with a Biergarten Pass.  

• Hofbräuhaus Biergarten – Features everything from traditional Bavarian and German music, rock bands, pop cover bands and more!  

•  Palm Avenue Bier Hall – Sit comfortably under a large shaded tent and order all of your favorite traditional German grub in this festive tavern-like experience!  

• Craft Bier & Seltzer Garten – Features live music, games, craft beers & seltzers, and more!  

Taste of Bavaria and Beyond With appetites stimulated by the festive atmosphere, attendees can indulge in a mouth-watering array of traditional German fare as well as other international delights. Savor the irresistible aroma of giant pretzels, perfectly grilled bratwurst, and crispy schnitzel, each bite transporting you straight to the heart of Bavaria. La Mesa Oktoberfest will also feature a variety of other delectable options, including sauerkraut, roasted nuts, and decadent desserts like apple strudel. Family Fun The German Kinder Karneval offers a plethora of children’s activities designed to delight and engage young festival-goers. This year, we’re excited to bring back the towering Ferris wheel, a crowd favorite that offers breathtaking views of La Mesa and adds a magical touch to the festivities. For the adventurous, inflatable obstacle courses and slides provide hours of bouncy fun. Creative minds can dive into interactive art stations where kids can unleash their artistic talents with caricatures, face painting, balloons, and flash tattoos.  

Games Oktoberfest isn’t just about food and drink – it’s also about fun and games! Step into the excitement of the Glücklich Games, where competitive spirits and joyous laughter come alive. Gather up your brute and brawn and head to La Mesa Boulevard and 4th St. to feed your playful side in a variety of spirited, competitive games. Put your power to the test as you go to head-to-head with the strongest in La Mesa! Dackeldorf Dachshund Village Furry family members are more than welcome at La Mesa Oktoberfest, where they can join in the festivities and have a blast alongside their human companions. The ever-popular Wiener/Dachshund dog races are a highlight, featuring spirited pups dashing towards the finish line, much to the delight of the cheering crowds. It’s a heartwarming and exhilarating event that showcases the speed and enthusiasm of these adorable competitors. Additionally, the fashion shows offer a delightful spectacle as our four-legged friends strut their stuff on the runway, donning creative and charming costumes that never fail to impress. Each participant has the chance to win exciting prizes and medals, making the competition even more thrilling.  

Pop-Up Pumpkin Patch & Flower Shop Adding to the charm of the festival, this year we’re excited to introduce a pop-up pumpkin patch where families can pick out the perfect pumpkin to take home. Additionally, a pop-up flower shop will allow guests to create their own beautiful flower crowns, adding a touch of floral elegance to their Oktoberfest attire.
