On Saturday, September 19, the Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off takes place at the Irvine Park Railroad. Irvine Regional Park is nestled among a grove of heritage Oak and Sycamore trees. The rolling foothills surrounding the park are filled with a variety of wildlife. Trees and shaded turf areas provide a serene setting for leisure activities. Santiago Creek bisects the park and a pond with a waterfall and footbridge located in the center of the park. The Park, founded in 1897, has a petting zoo and a railroad.
Pumpkin growers will have their pumpkins weighed to win prizes up to $3,500 for first place, $1,500 for second place and so on until a prize of $100 for tenth place. Other money awards go to Grower of the Year, Pretiest Pumpkin, and Youngest Grower.
Plan your visit and ride the train, rent a bike, hike trails, go in paddle boats, pony rides, rent a horse and visit the Orange County Zoo!
