The venue is located inside the Del Mar Fairgrounds, and drivers should enter through the Fairgrounds Main Gate for parking.
Because the Fairgrounds can host multiple events on the same day, traffic conditions may vary considerably. A concert night that overlaps with racing, exhibitions or another Fairgrounds event can require more travel time than a quieter evening.
Parking at The Sound
Parking for The Sound is managed by the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
General parking typically costs $20 to $25, although the exact price can vary by event. Parking is first-come, first-served, and guests should enter through the Main Gate. Tailgating is not permitted.
Limited Premium Parking is available for select performances directly in front of The Sound. It currently costs $31 and must be purchased online in advance rather than at the event.
Rideshare is another practical option, particularly when another large Fairgrounds event is taking place. Uber and Lyft users should use the Del Mar Fairgrounds Main Gate as their destination.
Seating at The Sound
The Sound changes its layout depending on the performance.
For general admission concerts, the floor in front of the stage is standing room. Reserved seating may also be available in the balcony, center terrace and left terrace.
For a seated show, assigned rows of chairs are placed on the floor.
That difference is important for this schedule.
J.B. Smoove, Cowboy Junkies, The Phil Collins Story and Lyle Lovett use seated formats, while many of the rock and electronic concerts use a general admission floor with optional reserved seating elsewhere in the venue.
Check the seating type on your ticket before attending rather than assuming every Sound show has the same floor arrangement.
Food and Drinks at The Sound
Outside food and beverages are not allowed, but food is available inside.
Current options include the Electric Burger in the balcony, Surfside Tacos in the lobby and the Sound Bites Stand, which serves items such as vegan bao buns, pulled pork sliders and seared ahi salad.
The Sound is also cashless. Accepted payment methods include major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Jack White ticket holders may want to carry a physical card because phones are secured during his phone-free performance.
Accessibility at The Sound
Accessible seating is available for all performances.
ADA seating is located in the central terrace and left and right balconies. Wheelchair symbols identify accessible locations on seating maps.
Guests who already have general admission tickets and require an accessible accommodation should contact the venue as early as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the performance, because general admission ADA capacity is limited.
Can You Leave The Sound and Come Back?
No.
The Sound has a no re-entry policy. Once you leave the front courtyard, including returning to the parking area, your ticket cannot be used to re-enter.
