About: Hansen Surfboards was one of the first to pioneer surf, ski and snowboard retailing in San Diego. As the story goes, in 1962, Don Hansen moved his surfboard business from a small shack in Hawaii to a building in Cardiff. It was there that his shaping business really began to grow. By the mid-1960’s, Hansen Surfboards was shipping surfboards to many parts of the world. Hansen’s, now located in Encinitas on South Coast Highway 101, is the largest surf shop in San Diego County.
